The team has undergone a complete overhaul with 6 new additions, and only Martí Gozalbo continues from the previous season.
The Canovelles-based company KH7 Lloreda, the main sponsor of Unió Ciclista Les Franqueses, has been chosen as the venue for the official presentation of the new season for the club’s junior team. A team composed of 7 cyclists that has undergone a profound renovation compared to the previous campaign. In fact, only Martí Gozalbo remains from last year, and 6 new cyclists have joined the team, including two second-year juniors and up to 5 first-year juniors. The new additions to the team this season are cyclists Martí Martínez, Marc Quirant, Sergi Gámez, Oriol Vizcaíno, Iñaki Ramos and Narcís Monturiol.
A junior team that has already participated in two races, the latest this past Sunday in Les Franqueses at the KH7 Junior Grand Prix, and is approaching the new season with the primary goal of uniting the team and competing in all the events they participate in. In this regard, the sports director of Unió Ciclista Les Franqueses, Santi Segú, emphasized that the goal in these categories is the training of athletes, but they also hope to perform well. “This week we have a break, but next week we are going to Castelló to race in an event called Cabedo, which spans two weekends as it takes place on Saturday and Sunday. At the end of the month, we will go to Amorebieta to compete in the Spring Classic.“
A renewed team but with the same enthusiasm for the challenges ahead, as explained by Martí Gozalbo, the only cyclist continuing from the previous campaign. “We are a very determined team that, above all, wants to learn, which is what it’s all about at these ages and in this category. As I mentioned, we want to learn, but, of course, we also want to win. What we are looking for now is to have a very cohesive team. To be united and learn together as much as possible about this great sport of cycling.“
A team with a special feature as four of its riders come from the world of Mountain Biking. Santi Segú is confident that their adaptation to the road cycling world will be quick since “although they come from MTB and are new to this discipline, they have performed very well in the two races we have participated in so far.“
A fun photo session that has allowed getting to know the new junior KH7 team of Unió Ciclista Les Franqueses a little better.
