The Gorchs Tennis Club has renewed its contract with the Spanish Tennis Federation to host the State Wheelchair Tennis Masters until 2027.
Les Franqueses del Vallès will be the venue for the State Wheelchair Tennis Masters at least until 2027. This was confirmed this week by the Gorchs Tennis Club and the Spanish Tennis Federation within the framework of the ITF 15 thousand Les Franqueses del Vallès Tournament being held at the club’s facilities throughout the week.
A State Wheelchair Tennis Masters that has been held in Les Franqueses for the past two editions, bringing the best players from the national and international circuits to the municipality. This is the most important competition of the season for the Spanish Tennis Federation and where the Spanish champions of this discipline emerge.
The president of the Gorchs Tennis Club, Jaume Marquès, and the responsible for wheelchair tennis at the Spanish Tennis Federation, Miquel Margets, signed the new contract at the offices of the Franqueses club. Margets was delighted to continue in the municipality because “we are more than satisfied, both for the venue and for the organization. Gorchs Tennis Club leaves its mark, and it shows in the small details. How they take care of all these players that we manage to bring to Les Franqueses del Vallès. Here come the top 8 players in Spain, and we want to have continuity here because we cannot find a better place to hold this State Wheelchair Tennis Masters. We are very happy.” The president of the Gorchs Tennis Club, Jaume Marquès, also expressed satisfaction with the signing of this agreement because “this year the three-year contract we signed with the Spanish Tennis Federation was ending, and we have already signed for 25, 26, and 27 to continue with the work we have been doing. The federation’s trust pleases us a lot because it tells us that we know how to organize tournaments and that we do it very well.” In this regard, Marget also explained that before making any decision, they consult the opinion of the players themselves and that “it has been very important in deciding to extend this contract because we know they want to come here. We must not forget that here we have had the participation of Martin de la Puente, number 4 in the world, or players who have achieved the runner-up of the world national teams championship twice.“
A high-profile event that will return to the municipal tennis courts of Les Franqueses del Vallès in November and that this year is part of the sports events of Les Franqueses, the European Town of Sport 2024.
