Les Franqueses del Vallès, represented by its mayor, Juan Antonio Corchado Ponce, the Councillor for Sports, Carlos Munzón Cruz, and members of the technical team from the Municipal Sports Board, received the award for Best European Town of Sport 2024 at the European Parliament in Brussels. This recognition highlights the quantity and quality of the sports events organized by the municipality throughout the year. The award was presented during the 25th ACES Awards Gala, which brought together nearly 500 people from around the world.

During the ceremony, the mayor expressed his pride and satisfaction, stating that “in the end, this is recognition for our organizations. We are very clear that the driving force behind this year’s achievements has been our sports associations and our technical team. Without both, who have worked together as a great team, this would not have been possible. They are the engine that has made this award possible.

The Councillor for Sports echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the award “is a bonus, an extra motivation to continue, and proof that sport is thriving in Les Franqueses del Vallès. We want it to stay that way. This is recognition for the organizations, the citizens, the entire town, and the team at the Municipal Sports Board.”

Les Franqueses’ term as European Town of Sport 2024 will officially conclude on Tuesday, December 17, with the General Council meeting of the Municipal Sports Board. During this event, the award will be shared with all the sports organizations in the municipality, and a review of all the events held throughout 2024 will be conducted.
