The Municipal Sports Board of Les Franqueses, at its last General Council of Sports meeting, shared the award of Best European Village of Sport 2024 with local organizations.
The Multi-purpose Hall at Casal de Llerona hosted the final session of the General Council of the Municipal Sports Board of Les Franqueses del Vallès. Starting in January 2025, this organization, together with the Municipal Board of Culture, Education, Childhood, and Youth, will no longer be autonomous and will become part of the administrative structure of the Les Franqueses Town Hall.
During this last session, the official closure of the Les Franqueses, European Village of Sport 2024 program took place, with nearly thirty local sports organizations present to share the Best European Village of Sport 2024 award, presented by ACES Europe. The Sports Councilor, Carlos Munzón Cruz, expressed gratitude for the involvement of all the organizations in celebrating this year: “They are the true driving force of sport in Les Franqueses, dedicating time and effort. This award is theirs, and that’s why we wanted to close 2024 as the Best European Village of Sport with all of them.”
During the General Council, a review of 2024 was made, and several projects were presented, focusing on gender equality, youth sports dropout, and the prevention of sedentary behavior. In this context, pediatric nurse Andrea Bosch from the Vallès Oriental Central Territorial Pediatric Care Team at the Catalan Health Institute explained the scholarship program being launched, aimed at allowing people who visit the health center (CAP) and need to practice sports to do so at local clubs.
The JESA LF program, Youth Sports Youth Active Les Franqueses, promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council, was also presented. This program aims to tackle sedentary behavior among young people and offer them healthy sports alternatives.
