Les Franqueses del Vallès is hosting, from Tuesday, May 7th to Thursday, May 9th, as part of the European City of Sport 2024, the closing events of the Walks for the Elderly Cycle, organized annually by the Barcelona Provincial Council.
The cycle concludes with three days of outdoor exercise, in which more than a thousand people from all over Catalonia participate. In the first session, there was a walk through the natural surroundings of Les Franqueses, covering various parks such as Lledoner, Verneda, and Falgar. During the day, participation diplomas were also handed out by the mayor, Juan Antonio Corchado Ponce, the Sports Councilor, Carlos Munzón Cruz, and the Councilor for the Elderly, Dolors Amaro Fitó.
The event also served to strengthen ties between Les Franqueses and Manresa, the two Catalan municipalities distinguished this year by Aces Europe as the European City and Town of Sport 2024, respectively. A delegation of representatives from Manresa, led by the Sports Councilor, Antoni Josep Valentí Moll, participated in the event and met with the mayor of Les Franqueses to share their European City and Town of Sport programs and to explore the possibility of organizing a joint event during 2024.
